Alberto Contador returns to Trek for the 2017 season. In this pro bike profile, we check out his first custom bike of the year – the "Grand Tour Celebración" Trek Émonda.

We've already seen Contador's stripped down, minimalistic Trek Speed Concept time trial bike for 2017, but, this is our first look at what we're guessing will be one of several custom painted road bikes that he'll race this year.

Contador has the entire Trek stable at his disposal; the aero Madone, the Domane for rougher road surfaces and the Émonda for climbing days. As Contador is a Grand Tour specialist and a climber, it looks like he's going to ride the Émonda more often than not.

This bike is equipped with several items from Shimano's latest Dura Ace Di2 groupset including shifters, front mech and rear mech. Much of the finishing kit is supplied by Bontrager including the Aeolus 6 wheels.

Interestingly, Trek-Segafredo are one of the very few teams who go without a tyre sponsor and allow the riders to guide the choice of this crucial bit of kit.
